An unexpected event arose in Spanish football. Real Betis played the final of the Copa del Rey against Valencia and a fan of the Verdiblanco team did not want to miss out on the match at La Cartuja. Juan Carlos Menudo, player of the Sporting La Corunadecided to present a false certificate in which he claimed to have coronavirus (Covid-19) to be able to see the team of which he is a fan play.

The Spanish midfielder came to attend the match for the Copa del Rey final and celebrate the consecration of the team led by Manuel Pellegrini, but not everything was happiness since his club found out about the situation.

Deportivo La Coruña complied with all the isolation protocols and did not include the player in the commitments he had for the Spanish third division, however, when they learned that the certificate presented was not real, they decided to terminate Menudo’s contract.

The club announced the separation of the footballer through a statement: “Juan Carlos Menudo Domínguez (Seville, June 18, 1991) will no longer belong to RC Deportivo. The Andalusian midfielder has become Depor’s first signing 21-22 and closes his blue-and-blue stage with a record of 11 games in the First RFEF, 1 in the Copa del Rey, 1 goal and 303 minutes defending the deportivista shirt”.

“From now on, Juan Carlos Menudo will be able to freely choose his next sports project. The Club, both professionally and personally, wishes him the best of luck in his future”, fthe Spanish team finished.

What is most striking is that Menudo began his career at Sevilla, a staunch rival of Real Betis, a club of which he is a fan. He went through Cartagena, Logroñés, Ponferradina, Unión Deportiva Melilla, Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa and Numancia. Always in ascendant teams, the former Deportivo La Coruña midfielder will have to look for a new destination.

It should be remembered that Betis won its third Copa del Rey after beating Valencia 5-4 on penalties, after not going beyond a 1-1 draw in the match and extra time at the Sevillian stadium in The Cartuja.
