An dutch runner died after participating in the Half marathon (21 kilometres) which was held in Lisbon and that ended with the victory of the Kenyan Kenneth Kiprop Renju and the Ethiopian Tsehay Gemechu Beyan.
“The Club de Portugal Marathon received with deep sadness the news of the death of an athlete of Dutch nationality after completing the Lisbon Half Marathon”, reported the organization.
Furthermore, according to local media, medical services treated another runner who was in serious but stable condition affected by the intense heat that the Portuguese capital registered during the day. Temperatures reached 30 degrees at the hottest time of the day.

More than 28,000 people participated in the competition that celebrated its 31st edition. The circuit toured some emblematic places in the city such as the bridge on April 25 that joins two parts of the same municipality.
It ended with the triumph of the Ethiopian Tsehay Gemechu Beyan -which had already won in the 2021 edition- in the women’s event, and from the Kenyan Kenneth Kiprop Renju in the masculine mode.
